Islamabad: Revised security plan: more sectors declared sensitive
ISLAMABAD: The police pickets in the city have been expanded up to 9th Avenue and Sector G-8 to counter the terrorism, said Inspector General of Police (IGP) Syed Kaleem Imam on Wednesday. Under the revised security arrangements, sectors F-7, F-8, G-7 and G-8 have been declared sensitive areas as residences of some foreigners, important government offices and markets are located in these sectors, he said in a press release. Imam said the police check posts had been set on different roads to outwit the terrorists and foil their nefarious design. “No doubt the people are facing some inconvenience at the check posts but these measures are inevitable and have been taken for their security,” he added. He hoped that people would extend their full cooperation in the best national interest. Imam said a sizeable number of dangerous criminals had been apprehended at these check posts and huge quantity of weapons and contraband were seized from their possession. He said so far the police had seized 80 pistols, 10 Kalashnikovs, 16 rifles and 1,085 cartridges. He said the police deployed at the check posts had been directed to be courteous while checking the vehicles and in case of any complaint strict punitive action would be taken against them.
