CDA mulling constituting Citizen Liaison Committees

ISLAMABAD: Capital Development Authority (CDA) has decided to constitute Citizen

Liaison Committees (CLCs) in every sector to maintain close contact with the inhabitants of each sector before embarking upon any development activity.

CDA Chairman Imtiaz Inayat Elahi on Friday told a private TV channel that the committees would be consulted before initiating any development activity in their respective area. The members of citizen committee would also work as a bridge between government and public, he added.

I and G sectors: CDA has also decided to concentrate developing hitherto neglected sectors G and I series. Huge funds would be allocated in next budget for developing the aforementioned sectors of I and G series, he pledged.

He maintained that the development projects in the capital were not even handed in past - consequently some sectors were given more importance than others.

Water supply: He said his main preference was to provide clean drinking water to citizens of capital. It is also working on recreational activities and planning to make some more parks.

Special efforts are being made to make the capital green, he said, adding that clean drinking water was an issue in Islamabad, which has not yet been seriously considered.

The total requirement of clean drinking water is a hundred million gallons per day the product which is being produced is about sixty million gallons per day. Fifty percent water is being wasted due to variety of reasons the only thirty million gallon water reaches to public.

He added that CDA had given the pilot projects of changing filtration plants of clean drinking water to private sector. He said CDA was planning to start new mega project due to which already completed projects faced a negligence and there maintenance was becoming a serious issue for CDA.

Park: Talking about the work of CDA on recreational facilities, he said that a Jubilee Park would be constructed in F-7 Islamabad. CDA has a concept to develop Jinnah Super as a main city center. It is also planning to announce the project of an Educational Park for children by the name of Dinosaur Park.

Elahi said he was following slogan of “Islamabad the Green City”. He said previously some trees had to be chopped to widen roads so presently he was planning to plant trees on roadsides. app
