First e-village set up in Islamabad
ISLAMABAD: A remote village of Capital City Mira Bagwal has been converted into e-village as it has been provided 2 MB Broad Band Internet Connection and its people have been given the facility of video conferencing to take advice from the specialist doctors in case of any disease.
The formal inauguration of this e-village mail was held here on Sunday which was attended by Islamabad Inspector General of Police (IGP) Syed Kaleem Imam, Deputy Education Advisor, Ministry of Education Muhammad Ismail, Additional Director ® FIA and Chief Coordinator Pakistan Social Association (PSA) Amar Jaffery, Ms Uzma Umar, CEO Universal Services Fund Muhammad Iftikhar and other notables of the society. The IGP appreciated the work done by various organisations for converting this remote village into e-village. He said the local people especially young generation would benefit from this facility in improving their knowledge and sharpen their skills. The dispensary, library already working in this village with the coordination of PSA would be converted by Universal Services Fund into e-dispensary and e-library while various products prepared by the children would be also presented for marketing through internet. Jaffery said the project was aimed at benefiting the local people and make the students computer literate. “This project will help converting this far-flung village into a modern and well-informed village,” he maintained. Iftikhar said this village was the first village in the country converted into e-mail village while 300 more villages of the country would be provided Internet facility on the same pattern. Other participants also addressed on the occasion and hailed this initiative of various organizations to equip this village with modern technology. On the occasion, the IGP distributed certificates among the students who participated in the computer training course arranged by PSA. He also announced to start free internship programme for the students of this area. Under this programme, the students would be invited to visit various wings of Islamabad police to know about their functioning. app |
