Ban on import of used computers unjust: KCCI
KARACHI: The proposed ban on import of used computers & IT equipments will hamper the socio-economic development with drastic decline in the literacy rate, Abdul Majid Haji Muhammad, president KCCI said.
He asserted that, at KCCI, we are of the high opinion that the government should lift the proposed ban on import of used computers and I.T. equipment while considering it as a baseless proposal, owing to the benefits of used/ refurbished computers being extensively operated as mandatory and essential office automation tools from modern hospitals to small clinics, recognised universities to primary schools and institutions, large scale manufacturing concerns to SMEs and elsewhere in the public and private sector. He pointed out the Government’s statistics also highlight the proven fact that usage of used/ refurbished computers is highly beneficial for all walks of Pakistani society in terms of both economic and social growth. staff report |
