LAHORE - The University of Health Sciences (UHS) Lahore has declared the result of Entrance Test for admission to medical and dental colleges of the Punjab on Monday.
A total of 30,026 candidates appeared in the Test held on July 20, out of which 8,524 secured 60 per cent and above marks. As many as 5,390 scored 50 to 59 per cent marks whereas 5,743 got 40 to 49pc marks. A total of 10,369 candidates scored less than 40pc marks. Ahsan Ali s/o Rafaqat Ali from DG Khan and Hassaan Iftikhar s/o M Iftikhar Hussain from Faisalabad shared the first position, both securing 1058/1100 marks. Zainab Waseem d/o Waseem Sarwar from Multan and Abdullah Khan s/o Abdul Rauf Khan from Lahore got second and third position by securing 1047/1100 and 1042/1100 marks respectively. UHS will declare the eligibility criteria after the decision of Lahore High Court. Detailed result can also be seen on UHS website http://www.uhs.edu.pk. The eligible candidates will compete for 3,205 MBBS and 216 BDS seats in 18 public sector medical and dental colleges respectively. Besides, there are 1,400 MBBS and 400 BDS seats in 15 private sector medical and dental colleges of the province. It is worth mentioning here that this year UHS had held the entrance test two months prior to the scheduled timing of month of October every year in the past. There was perception among the parents of the students that UHS administration had fixed the date for entrance test only to oblige the children of the some influential of the province. Whereas spokesman of the UHS was of the view that UHS had only held the test to secure the students from the owners of the private academies who mint money from the innocent students in the name of preparation of the entry test. The stakeholders have also expressed their concerns over the pass marks ratio set by the UHS and termed the same contrary to the rules set by Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC). Spokesman then said UHS is playing a supervisory role and all the rules and regulations were framed and amended by Punjab government. |
