LPG price reduced by Rs 30 per kg
* OGRA constitutes teams to check black marketing of commodity
By Shabbir Sarwar LAHORE: The Oil and Gas Regularity Authority (OGRA) on Friday reduced the price of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) by Rs 30 per kilogramme. The decision was announced after a meeting of the LPG Distributors Association of Pakistan, Petroleum and Natural Resources Ministry Gas Director General Mansoor Muzzaffar and the Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Limited (SNGPL). The LPG Association had threatened to launch a countrywide strike if the prices had not been decreased. According to the new prices, LPG would be sold for Rs 80 per kilogramme against the previous price of Rs 110 per kilogramme. The domestic cylinders of LPG would now be sold for Rs 944. According to a notification, OGRA had issued orders to constitute teams at the provincial and district levels to conduct raids against the black marketing and sale of LPG on inflated rates. LPG Distributors Association Chairman Irfan Khokhar, talking to Daily Times, thanked Petroleum and Natural Resources Minister Syed Naveed Qamar Shah and Gas Director General Mansoor Muzzaffar for issuing orders to reduce the LPG prices, which would benefit the consumers of the commodity. He said that the reduction in the LPG prices would break the monopoly of 35 marketing companies. “Our talks with Gas DG Mansoor Muzaffar remained successful and ultimately we are able to get good news for the citizens,” he said. |
