QAU launches first-ever BS Programme
The Quaid-i-Azam University (QAU) after 43 years of its inception has launched its first ever BS Programme at the School of Economics recently established under its auspices to serve this purpose.
Addressing the launching ceremony QAU Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Masoom Yasinzai said that the Department of Economics is one of those disciplines of social sciences that were launched just after the establishment of this national level university. He said keeping up the tradition of being first in line, the department has now been upgraded to School of Economics to start the first ever BS Programme in the university. Dr. Masoom Yasinzai said that he wants to see the youth as the driving force for economic growth of the country. “Being an optimistic person I have a firm believe in youth. You are the hope of this country and you should put in your best efforts to get true knowledge instead of striving only to secure degree,” he said. He said faculty of Economics Department comprises seven PhDs, four of whom have their degrees from North America, considered one of the prime destinations in the field of Economic education. Citing the importance of higher education he said China is pushing one million youth every month in higher education while Korean have firm belief that every dollar which they would invest in higher education would give the benefit of eight hundred dollars to their economy. School of Economics Director Dr. Tariq Javed said that he had the vision to expand Department of Economics since long. He thanked the continuous encouragement and help of the vice chancellor to make this dream a reality. |
