Punjab: ‘Rs 5bn allocated for computer labs in schools’
THE Punjab government has allocated Rs 5 billion for establishment of computer labs in government high and higher secondary schools.
A spokesman of the Punjab Information Technology Department said on Sunday that with the addition of allocation for setting up computer labs, the total allocations for education in the budget 2008-09 would each Rs 27 billion. He said the allocations for the Computer Education Project would be reflected in the Annual Development Plan (ADP). The spokesman said the project was not a part of the budgetary proposals forwarded by the Education Department and efforts in that connection were made following Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif’s announcement in which he said over 4,000 public schools would be given facilities to impart computer education. He said Shahbaz had made the said announcement in his maiden speech after being elected as chief minister on June 8. http://www.thenews.com.pk/daily_detail.asp?id=138600 |
