Multan Road residents protest
RESIDENTS of Multan Road have alleged that the Punjab government has acquired their land illegally and refused to pay them the market price.
Addressing a press conference at the Lahore Press Club on Sunday, residents of Multan Road, including Muhammad Yasin, Jameela Bibi, Haji M Afzal and Yasin Khan, demanded the Punjab Chief Minister pay them the market price of their land. They were of the view that if the government failed to do justice then they would hold protest demonstrations in front of the Chief Minister Secretariat and CM House. They further alleged that officials of the Punjab government had demolished their houses in the name of widening Multan Road. They added that Lahore Development Authority had promised to give them prices of their land but later it refused. They also said that officials of LDA and PMU had been threatening them with dire consequences on contacting the media. They appealed to the Lahore High Court chief justice and Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif for justice and immediate payment of their land prices. |
