Rs 115.25bn earmarked for power sector projects
ISLAMABAD: The government has earmarked Rs 115.25 billion for the ongoing and new schemes in the power sector under the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) for the next fiscal year 2011-12. According to the PSDP, out of the total amount allocated, Rs 71 billion have been proposed for the ongoing projects, Rs 1,225 billion for new schemes while Rs 42.95 billion for hydel projects in the upcoming financial year. Similarly, Rs18 billion have been allocated for land acquisition for the Diamer-Basha Dam and Rs 2.5 billion for the construction of Diamer-Bhasha Dam. A sum of Rs 10.8 billion have been earmarked for Neelum Jhelum, Rs 3.24 billion for Dubir Khawar, Rs 2.14 billion for Allai Khawar, Rs 1.79 billion for Golan Gol, Rs 1.124 billion for Jinnah and Rs 650.956 million for Bunji Hydro power projects under the PSDP. An amount of Rs 14.58 billion has been specified for 747MW Guddu power project, Rs13. 85 billion for 525MW combined cycle power plant at Chicho Ki Malian, Rs 3. 85 billion for 425MW combined cycle Nandipur power plant and Rs1.65 billion for power system transmission enhancement project-II. Likewise, Rs 1.8 billion have been earmarked for the import of 100MW electricity from Iran and Rs 400 million have been allocated for interconnection for dispersal of power from Barrage Mounted Kerkey Rental Power plant phase-1.
