Karachi: DHA residents delegation meets DHA administrator
KARACHI: A representative delegation of Association of DHA Residents (ADR), led by President Capt (Retd) Kamal Al-Karimi visited Defense Housing Authority’s main office on Thursday and held a meeting with DHA and CBC officials to discuss the problems faced by residents.
DHA Administrator Brig. Khalid Tirmizi said that DHA gives great importance to the residents’ point of view and is open to any suggestions or criticism from them. He said that the residents’ suggestions will help DHA chalk out a viable strategy to address their problems effectively. The delegation was informed that the DHA desalination plant is presently non-functional due to damage to the middle hollow shaft of the gas turbine rotor. Arrangements to fly in an alternate shaft have been finalized by Siemens Germany to make the plant operational as soon as possible. The ADR delegation pointed out certain problems in the water supply in DHA, which resulted in uneven distribution and shortage of water in the area. The administrator informed the delegation that a number of proposals, including one for the distribution of water through overhead tanks, are being considered by DHA to improve the water supply system. The delegation was informed that DHA is resuming work on the suspended Gizri flyover project although the design and length have been altered. The flyover will land close to the petrol pump on Gizri and the project will be completed by March 2009. The ADR delegation was further informed that as a result of the study carried out by NESPAK on the smooth flow of traffic in DHA, Khayaban-e-Zamzama, Khayaban-e-Mujahid, Khayaban-e-Shamsheer and Khayaban-e-Shujaat will soon be made one way. The work of re-carpeting of roads in DHA will commence from the middle of next month. The representatives of DHA Residents Society (DRS), DHA Society Residents Association (DSRA), Residents Association Phase-IV, DHA Association Coordination Committee (DACC), Seaview Residents Society, DHA Ph-VIII Residents Committee and Helpline Trust attended the meeting. app http://www.dailytimes.com.pk/default.asp...008_pg12_4 |
