Punjab govt approves 21 revised development schemes
LAHORE: The Punjab government has approved twenty-one revised on-going development schemes of various sectors of the economy at an estimated cost of Rs.25717.507 million.

The schemes were approved in the 33rd meeting of Provincial Development working Party of current fiscal year 2012-13 presided over by the Punjab Planning and Development Board Chairman, Sohail Ahmad, a spokesman said on Sunday.

All these were revised on-going development schemes and to avoid delay and to protect from the inflation rate in the estimated cost of the schemes, these schemes were considered in the PDWP’s meeting and were also approved for completion within its time limit by the provincial development forum.

The schemes included: completion of DHQ building for conversion into kidney centre Multan at a cost of Rs.877.689 million, construction of Pandori Dam in district Jhelum at a cost of Rs. 656.939 million, construction of Chahan Dam project in district Rawalpindi (revised) at a cost of Rs.1567.429 million, capacity building and strengthening of Mines and Minerals Department (PC-II) at a cost of Rs. 70.339 million, project to resolve traffic problems at Kalma Chowk intersection Ferozepur Road Lahore (revised) at a cost of Rs. 2110.315 million.

Dualisation of Kasur Depalpur Carriageway section from km 0.00 to 101.30 in District Kasur & Okara at a cost of Rs. 5321.353 million, construction of road from Sangla Hill to Shahkot in district Nankana Sahib (length-19.91 km) (2nd revised) at a cost of Rs. 311.828 million, Dualisation of Eastern Side Bypass in district Gujranwala (3rd revised) at a cost of Rs. 935.585 million, widening/improvement of road from Gujranwala Bypass Awan Chowk to Baghwala Chowk via Nowshera Virkan Karyal Road in district Gujranwala (3rd revised) at a cost of Rs. 341.621 million, widening/improvement of Sialkot Eminabad Road in district Sialkot & Gujranwala (2nd Revised) at a cost of Rs. 1063.535 million.

Dualisation of Gujranwala Sialkot Road section Gujranwala to Daska in district Gujranwala & Sialkot (3rd Revised) at a cost of Rs. 2171.178 million, Construction of road from Sialkot at (Sublime Chowk) to Wazirabad (dual carriageway) in district Sialkot (3rd revised) at a cost of Rs. 1348.651 million.

Construction/improvement dual carriageway from Bijli Garh to District Complex Narowal via Jassar in District Narowal (revised) at a cost of Rs. 412.801 million, construction of underpass along canal at Abdullahpur Chowk (revised) at a cost of Rs. 1240.459 million, widening/improvement of 18-Hazari Fateh Pur Road in District Jhang (revised) at a cost of Rs. 945.807 million, widening/improvement of road from Hasilpur to Bahawalnagar district Bahawalpu/Bahawalnagar (revised) at the cost of Rs. 2027.805 million.

Widening/improvement of road from Vehari to Kacha Khu Road in district Vehari/Khanewal (revised) at a cost of Rs. 522.481 million, rehabilitation of Raiwind-Manga Road in District Lahore at a cost of Rs.371.651 million, widening/improvement of Chour Chowk on GT Road (N-5) Rawalpindi (revised) at a cost of Rs. 412.968 million, Dualisation of Gujranwala-Sialkot Road (Section Daska Sialkot) in District Sialkot (revised) at a cost of Rs.2980.961 million and establishment of Strategic Planning Unit & Project Management Units in C&W Department.(PC-II) (revised) at a cost of Rs. 26.112 million
