The cooperative department carried out a survey which revealed that 36 divisions of Punjab, home more then one hundred illegal housing societies. There are, in all 252 co-operative societies present in 36 different divisions of Punjab. The survey revealed that more than a hundred housing societies had illegal constructions and influential people abused the power invested in them by constructing housing societies in places and property assigned for public amenities by the government like parks, graveyards, mosques, dispensaries and sports grounds.

The cooperative department prepared the list of influential people who are illegally occupying land, reserved by the government for other uses. The provincial minister for cooperative department said that the survey has revealed many constructions done by land mafia and strict action will be taken against these constructions. The said societies will be demolished and will be reverted to their previous state of a park, sports ground, mosque or graveyard and legal action will b taken against such actions.

He assured that the process will be corruption free.
