Benazir Bhutto Road to have three more U-turns
Rawalpindi
In order to improve the traffic flow and make Benazir Bhutto Road signal-free, the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has decided to end level crossing at intersections of Liaquat Bagh and Moti Mahal Chowk by constructing three U-turns in second phase of the project of the traffic plan. This was stated by RDA Director Engineering Mohammad Akram Soban while talking to this correspondent in his office on Thursday. Briefing on the component to be carried out in the second phase, Akram Soban said that instead of Liaquat Bagh Chowk, the U-turn would now be constructed near Saint Mary’s School. Similarly, after demolishing the U-turn from Moti Mahal Chowk, it would now be constructed near the Jang Building after which the traffic plying from Liaquat Road and Raja Bazar to Saddar would use the U-turn of Saint Mary’s School. Whereas the traffic coming from Arya Mohallah would use the U-turn to be built near the RDA Building. Similarly, vehicles coming from Tipu Road would utilise the U-turn of Jang Building. This U-turn would also be by vehicles coming from Saddar and Kashmir Road to Rashid Minhas Road. In the first phase, the RDA had ended the level crossing at Mareer Chowk through which improvement in traffic flow was witnessed. All arrangements have been finalised to implement the second phase of the traffic plan project. |
