NWFP: Govt may declare all industrial estates as Reconstruction Opportunity Zones

PESHAWAR: Federal government has taken a decision in principle on a suggestion to declare all the industrial estates in NWFP as Reconstruction Opportunity Zones (ROZs), said Minister of State and Chairman Board of Investment (BoI), Salim H Mandviwala. Talking to businessmen of NWFP during his visit to Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) here on Wednesday, he said the federal government is also giving serious consideration to declare NWFP as a ‘War Affected Zone’. He disclosed that a policy is being chalked out to set up an economic zone in NWFP, which would be affiliated with ROZs and industries would be exempted from taxes for a period of 10-year. Mandviwala said the BoI would take a delegation of SCCI to the USA for holding talks with concerned authorities in regard with setting up of ROZs in NWFP. app
