Tax net to be expanded in budget: Tareen
LAHORE: Adviser to Prime Minister on Finance Shaukat Tareen has said that he will try to expand the tax net instead of increasing rate or imposing new taxes in the next financial budget.
Tareen told a private TV channel the US was satisfied with Pakistan’s economic policies. However, he said, the Americans had concerns over Pakistan’s security issues. He said Pakistan had tried to rid the US of its concerns over the Taliban during President Asif Ali Zardari’s visit to that country. He said that although the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank had reservations over Pakistan’s revenue affairs, they were satisfied with the country’s programmes. He said that steps must be taken in the next budget to increase Pakistan’s revenue. http://www.dailytimes.com.pk/default.asp...2009_pg1_9 |
