Karachi: Rehabilitation of Jahangir Park ordered
Chief Secretary Sindh Fazal-ur-Rehman has instructed the Secretary Forest and District Coordination Officer Karachi to immediately rehabilitate and beautify Jahangir Park, Saddar, and ensure plantation of neem, coconut and palm oil trees as well as Gul Mohr there.
He also directed for removing encroachments from the park in order to save the park for public recreation. He issued these directives while presiding a meeting on Tuesday to review the progress of the Green Karachi Programme, which has been launched on the directives of Asif Ali Zardari. The CS also advised to arrange neem tree plantation at the Bagh-e-Jinnah (former Polo ground). He maintained that all the work in Jahangir Park and Bagh-e-Jinnah should be started on priority basis. He said rehabilitation of Jahangir Park must be undertaken without any delay. The meeting reviewed the progress on 10 projects of Green Karachi Programme viz Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Memorial River Valley Park, Central Park Karachi, Karachi Night Safari Park at Thado Dam in Gaddap Town, Karachi Animal Park at Karachi Zoological Garden, Manghopir Resort at Hub Reservoir on Manghopir Hill, Beautification of Lyari River, National Park (Gutter Bagheecha, Lyari), Beautification and Reservation of Hill Park as well as greenery around the Sindh Secretariat area. http://www.thenews.com.pk/daily_detail.asp?id=179731 |
