Islamabad: Barri Imam Urs postponed due to security reasons

ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration and Barri Imam Shrine Committee (BISC) have decided to postpone the annual five-day Urs of Hazarat Barri Imam for an indefinite period due to security reason.

An official said due to increasing threats of suicide attacks the ICT administration and BISC have decided to postpone the Urs starting from June 7.

He said the law enforcement agencies had made comprehensive security and traffic plans for the Urs, but due to threats of suicide bombing they had decided to postpone it.

When contacted, ICT Deputy Commissioner Asadullah Faiz confirmed to Daily Times that the administration and the BISC had decided to postpone the Urs keeping in view the current law and order situation.
