Islamabad: Follow merit, CDA chairman tells officers
ISLAMABAD: Capital Development Authority (CDA) officials must ensure transparency and merit in resolving matters and address the problems of people residing in less developed sectors of the city.
CDA Chairman Imtiaz Inayat Elahi said this on Thursday while addressing the CDA officers at Convention Centre. He said the authority would prioritise opening of new sectors, as it was primarily responsible to provide housing facility to people. He said shortage of housing units was gradually becoming a burning issue and, therefore, the CDA officers should speed up work on the launch of new sectors. He also emphasised the need to bring neglected sectors of Islamabad at par with the developed ones. “The problems of water shortage and poor sanitation being faced by the residents of less developed sectors will be solved on priority basis,” Elahi said, adding, supply of drinkable water and provision of recreation facilities to people would top the CDA policy. He said the CDA would maintain strict balance on its earnings and expenditures and take effective measures for water conservation. Elahi said he believed in extensive interaction with people. In this connection, he directed the officers to organise open courts, directly contact the stakeholders to know about their problems and reactivate sector citizen committees for a continuous liaison with all segments of the society. He directed the officers concerned to supervise all maintenance and development works being carried out by the CDA staffers. He also asked them to plant evergreen and environment-friendly species of trees to make Islamabad beautiful, clean and green. http://www.dailytimes.com.pk/default.asp...009_pg11_2 |
