Canada pledges another $25 million for IDPs
ISLAMABAD: Canadian International Cooperation Minister Beverley Oda on Monday pledged an additional $25 million in aid for the rehabilitation of internally displaced persons (IDPs).
He made the announcement during a meeting with President Asif Zardari at the Presidency. Canadian High Commissioner Randolph Mank and Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) Vice President Francoise Ducros were also present on the occasion. Zardari apprised the Canadian minister of Pakistan’s position on Pak-Afghan border issue. Oda assured Zardari of her government’s support in the rehabilitation of IDPs and said CIDA was working on various projects in Pakistan. Separately, the Canadian minister called on Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi on Monday. Qureshi thanked the Canadian minister for her government’s support and hoped for active Canadian participation in the upcoming Friends of Democratic Pakistan meeting in Istanbul later this month. http://www.dailytimes.com.pk/default.asp...009_pg7_19 |
