Islamabad: F-6, F-7 to be declared mini-diplomatic enclave

Islamabad: On the directives of the interior ministry, Islamabad Capital Territory Police have devised new security plan for ambassadors and envoys of various countries residing in different sectors especially in F-6 and F-7.

The administration of Islamabad capital territory has recommended interior ministry to declare sectors F-6 and F-7 as mini diplomatic enclave because mostly ambassadors are residing in these two sectors and consulates of different countries are also situated there, sources informed this agency.

Barriers have been set up at more than 15 streets so far while negotiations are

underway with consulates and embassies of different embassies to install barriers in other streets, sources said.

Joint police would be deployed outside the embassies. Sources said Islamabad Capital Territory Police faces shortage of resources to install barriers itself therefore it is seeking help of consulates and embassies. Sources said the whole process is likely to be completed by the end of December while any high level change in police and administration can affect the security plan.
