FIA arrests ‘most wanted’ human trafficker
LAHORE: A raiding team of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) arrested on Thursday a proclaimed offender who was declared the most wanted human trafficker according to the 2008 Red Book. FIA (Punjab) Provincial Director, Muhammad Azam Joyia said the accused, a resident of a village in Sambrial district, Sialkot, was a notorious human trafficker had been declared the ‘most wanted human trafficker’ in the 2008 Red Book. He was involved in nine human trafficking cases through unfrequented land routes of Pakistan-Iran-Turkey to Greece, he said, adding the accused, Mukhtar Ahmad alias Bhutto, had entered the human trafficking business in 2006 and operated from Pakistan with the cooperation of Mamoon Rasheed alias Steno, a resident of Sialkot. The accused pretended to arrange passage for Pakistani nationals to Greece for Rs 600,000 per person. The people were then trafficked to Iran where Ibrahim Irani, who operated in the network of Agha Inayat alias Haji Abdullah, a resident of Wazirabad, received them. Agha Inayat further trafficked the persons to Istanbul, where they were received by Nadeem Butt, son of Muhammad Yousaf and a resident of Kunjah District, Gujrat. The payment to the transit agents was made through a hundi by Mamoon Rasheed. A judicial magistrate has ordered physical remand of the accused for investigation. app
