Govt has succeeded in solving 98% of the problems: Fouzia Wahab
‘Progress visible in majority of sectors’
KARACHI: Positive developments are visible in most sectors, despite the extremely difficult circumstances faced by the country, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Information Secretary Fouzia Wahab said on Sunday. Wahab was talking to reporters at an Iftar-dinner she hosted for journalists in the port city. She said the government has succeeded in solving 98 percent of the problems the country faced, including eradicating terrorism. “There is an economic recession across the world and people are being made redundant everywhere, but the PPP-led government has not sacked a single employee. Rather, it has regularised the services of a large number of people”, the PPP leader said. She said the government was also providing financial support to the poor through the Benazir Income Support Programme and land was also being allotted to poor peasants to help them earn a livelihood through agriculture. Wahab said that apart from the positive trends being observed in the stock market, inflation had also decreased while the country’s rating by the International Monetary Fund had also improved. Speaking on the occasion, Federal Minister Khursheed Shah said the government was working very hard to resolve the sugar and flour crises, and the country would be rid of these problems soon. He said the government had set up an autonomous system in the Northern Areas, which includes the Gilgit-Baltistan assembly, court and an election commission. app http://www.dailytimes.com.pk/default.asp...009_pg7_39 |
