Punjab police 'encounters' five proclaimed offenders in one day
LAHORE: Sahiwal and Rajanpur police on Wednesday killed five proclaimed offenders (POs) in two separate ‘encounters’. According to a Punjab Police spokesperson, all five accused carried head money for their involvement in kidnapping for ransom, murder and armed robbery.
According to Sahiwal District Police Officer (DPO) Babar Sarfaraz Alpa, police rushed to the crime scene after receiving a tip that some unidentified armed men were looting locals near Chak No 113/7-R in Chichawatni. The robbers opened fire when the police arrived. Police retaliated and the accused managed to flee through nearby woods. Later, police found the body of an unknown suspect and a rifle near him. Separately, Rajanpur DPO Shahid Javed said personnel from Fazalpur Police Station were taking four arrested POs to court. The accused included Bashira Jatani, Munira Jatani, Amir Ismail Gopang and Iqbal Lashari. On their way, three men ambushed the police van, killing all four prisoners. staff report http://www.dailytimes.com.pk/default.asp...009_pg7_36 |
