Malik denies presence of Blackwater in Pakistan
ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Rehman Malik on Wednesday categorically denied the existence or operations of US private security firm Blackwater in the country. " Blackwater does not engage in any activity in Pakistan. Indeed no official or foreign security company has been provided any facility in the country," he said during an interview with a private TV channel. Vowing strict action against security agencies possessing illegal weapons, he pointed out that punitive action had already been taken against some security agencies. The interior minister said the residents of FATA, Swat and Malakand abhor the Taliban as they were responsible for killing the local youth. Pledging that terrorism had no place in Pakistan, he said the Taliban had been effectively marginalised and their remnants would soon be apprehended. Commenting on Pak-India relations, the interior minister said the world must not discriminate while dealing with Pakistan and India. app http://dailytimes.com.pk/default.asp?pag...009_pg7_28 |
