FIA foils $200m ‘intellectual property theft’
LAHORE: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has foiled an attempt to cause a $200 million loss to TotalMedi Pvt Ltd through intellectual property theft.
Talking to Aaj Kal, an FIA official said the company’s chief executive had registered a complaint against several employees for allegedly stealing “valuable information” from the company. The company provides mobile and custom applications and also delivers web-based practices and laboratory management solutions. The employees include Adnan Bin Riaz, Faheem Ahmed, Madeeha Basharat, Saba Dilawaiz, Shabana Nazir and Fakhra Ashraf. An FIA team raided two employees’ houses and seized computers, laptops, flash drives and CDs from the premises. On the basis of a forensic report, the team found that the employees had accessed the software without the company’s permission. Adnan has been declared a proclaimed offender and Fahim, Fakhra, Saba and Madeeha have been released on bail.
