Just say no to hitchhikers: CCPO Lahore
LAHORE: Citizens should lock the doors and close the windows of their vehicles while driving and should not give rides to any strangers to avoid any terrorist incident, Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Pervaiz Rathore said on Monday.
The CCPO said the public must remain alert and should be aware of the terrorists’ plans and designs. He directed Lahore police to remain vigilant about the security of foreign personnel and companies in the city. He said emergency telephone numbers must be provided to such institutions so that they can benefit from immediate police assistance during emergencies. He also ordered the immediate removal of all beggars from traffic signals and city squares throughout the provincial metropolis. He said police officials deployed on the security detail should not keep their cell phones with them during duty hours. The CCPO said that under the prevailing circumstances, it was the need of the hour to remain vigilant and take precautionary measures to ward of any untoward incident. He reiterated that property dealers must keep a complete record of new tenants and no room should be rented to any person without verification of identity. The CCPO directed police to keep close liaisons with private security companies and brief the security guards with regard to strengthening of security. He said no security guard of any private security company should be deputed for duty unless the institution or police station concerned had conducted stern and thorough verification. He appealed to the citizens to keep a vigilant eye on their immediate surroundings and inform police without delay about any suspicious activities in order to help eradicate acts of terrorism. http://www.dailytimes.com.pk/default.asp...09_pg13_10 |
