Lahore: Sikh Yatrees dump govt warning, visit City
LAHORE - Ignoring the warning issued by Indian government to avoid visit to Pakistan, 1,500 Sikh Yatrees arrived in City through Wagah border on Saturday by special trains.
“Security situation cannot prevent us to perform our religious rites,” said a Sikh Yatree and added that they were thankful to Pakistan government for security arrangements. It is worth mentioning here that these Yatrees would participate in 541st birth anniversary celebrations of Baba Guru Nanak Sahib, founder of Sikh religion. Vice Chairman Evacuee Trust Property Board Muhammad Ali, members of Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Parbandak Committee and others warmly welcomed them. The Pakistan government had made elaborate arrangements for their foolproof security, besides ensuring their boarding, messing, medical and travel facilities, ETPB officials said. Talking to media, the Yatree group leaders Jagir Singh and Sohan Singh Gill have expressed their satisfaction over the arrangements made by Pakistan government to facilitate the Sikh Yatrees. During their 10-day stay in Pakistan, they will participate in rituals at Gurdwara Janamsthan Nankana Sahib from October 31 to November 2. They will also visit Panja Sahib, Hassanabadal from November 4 to 5 and return to Lahore on November 6 where they will attend rituals at Dera Sahiba. They would also visit Kartarpur on November 7 and return to Lahore on the same day. Then the Sikh Yatrees will go back to India on November 9. Tight security arrangements were made at Wagah Railway Station to ensure foolproof security of the visiting Yatrees. http://www.nation.com.pk/pakistan-news-n...visit-City |
