Rawalpindi: No proper security measures at Food Street

There are no security arrangements at the Food Street along Double Road in Shamsabad. Hundreds of people daily visit the Food Street but there is no checking of vehicles whatsoever. Muhammad Usman said that there are no proper security checking of vehicles at the main gate of the Food Street. Kashif Mehmood, a restaurant owner, said that business has affected because people avoid visiting the Food Street due to poor security arrangements. I have personally requested the Traders Union of Food Street to enhance security, but to no avail, he added. Ijaz Ahmed, vice president of the Food Street Traders Union, told ‘The News’ that all businessmen of the Food Street should enhance security. But they are not cooperating with union members, he added. Only a few restaurant owners in the Food Street have security guards, he added.
