Lahore: Body to resolve Queens Road issue: LHC
LAHORE - The Lahore High Court on Friday constituted a three-member committee to resolve the issue of blocking Queens Road, Lahore in front of CCPO office, due to security reasons.
Acting advocate general, Punjab Muhammad Hanif Khatana will head the committee while CCPO Lahore and IGP will be the other members. The committee has been directed to hear the grievances of all traders, and owners of other businesses and come up with an acceptable solution. The court passed this order on the petition of Inayat Ali, manager Plaza Cinema, located in front of the CCPO office. He said on Capital City Police Officer’s order road from CCPO office to the Rescue 15 building was blocked and a wall was also being erected on the road. He submitted that on the pretext of security, law enforcement agencies had not only closed the roads leading to cinema but the public movement in the area was being restricted through erection of a wall. He said these steps had badly affected his cinema business, as the people were not allowed to enter the area. He said the employees of cinema are suffering from severe financial crisis as situation has forced the owner to close down cinema for indefinite period. He requested the court to direct the provincial government to open road for common people so that his business could run smoothly. Reply sought from DCO and DDO ® by 20th The Lahore High Court Friday issued notices to DCO and DDO (revenue) and TMA Kasur and sought replies from them until November 20 on a petition moved by a citizen against demolition of his house. The petitioner Muhammad Yaqoob through his counsel Rana Ijaz Ahmed pleaded that he received a notice from TMA on August 22 to vacate house without giving him any opportunity of hearing. He pointed out that on August 25, a team of 14 employees of municipal administration headed by TMA Sheikh Anwar demolished his house. He said he was never served a mandatory notice under section 4 of Land Acquisition Act. He said his house had been acquired on the pretext of public interest but he was never paid any money. After hearing his arguments, the court observed that allegations against Kasur TMA are of serious nature and if found correct they would be sent behind the bar for violating fundamental rights of a citizen. http://www.nation.com.pk/pakistan-news-n...Road-issue |
