Sindh: Ban imposed on weddings after 12 midnight
* Ban on pillion riding to continue
KARACHI: The Sindh government has imposed ban on holding wedding functions after 12 midnight. Sindh Chief Secretary Fazalur Rehman while talking about the reason behind the imposition of the ban told Daily Times that it is an unnecessary thing to hold such functions till late hours and from this ban the electricity would also be saved. “There are no terror threats that the terrorists might target weddings but the people should take precautionary measures themselves to avoid any untoward incident,” said Rehman. Talking about the aerial firing at weddings, he said, aerial firing is also banned and the groom would be arrested if aerial firing was reported in any wedding. He further said that this ban has been imposed for an indefinite period. According to a notification issued on Saturday, the Sindh government under Section 144 of CrPC has imposed ban upon holding wedding functions after 12 midnight all over the Sindh province. Violation of this order will attract penal action under Section 188 CrPC upon owners of premises like marriages halls, lawns, hotels and other places where such functions are held. All Station House Officers (SHOs) are directed to take strict action against violators falling within their jurisdictions.
