Lahore: ‘Model roads’ back on the road after two weeks
LAHORE: Lahore City Traffic Police (CTP) has started the implementation of its Model Road Project after a gap of about two weeks, on Friday, sources told Daily Times.
No new developments have been made on the project, as the majority of CTP personnel were busy on emergency duty at Tablighee Ijtema (congregation) in Raiwind, which continued for more than six days. Sources told Daily Times that the CTP had planned to make all 50 roads included in the plan, as model roads within three months, but after more than one month, the CTP could only declare five roads as Model Roads. According to the plan the CTP had banned, cycles motorcycles, rickshaws and donkey carts partially on Main Boulevard Gulberg, Jail Road, Ferozepur Road, Walton Road, Bund Road and Ring Road, and asked them to use the service lanes instead.Additional wardens were deployed on these Model Roads, who were directing the slow moving traffic to remain in the service lanes instead of taking to the main roads. CTP superintendents of police (SPs) of both divisions of the city personally monitored the implementation of the project on Friday. rana tanveer http://www.dailytimes.com.pk/default.asp...009_pg13_2 |
