Tighten your belts, Khusro Pervez tells Lahoris: Commissioner announces energy conse
LAHORE: Commissioner Khusro Pervaiz announced on Tuesday a series of measures that would be taken around the city to conserve electricity and cope with the prevailing power crisis. Chairing a meeting to review the proposals sent to the Punjab government on ways to combat load shedding, he announced the following measures:
* All shopping and trading centres of Lahore will be provided uninterrupted electricity between 5pm to 9pm every day. * Shopkeepers should continue to save electricity even when there is no load shedding. * The use of UPS, generators in markets to be forbidden after 9pm. * No electronic neon signs should be switched on after sunset. * The city would be divided into 7 zones and there would be no business activity in one zone on any one prescribed day. * No function would be allowed in wedding halls after 9pm and decorative lighting outside houses and wedding halls would also be forbidden. * Only 50 percent of all lights in public parks would be switched on. * Hospitals, tube wells and flourmills would be provided ‘maximum’ electricity. |
