CS orders implementation of Malir Expressway project
The Chief Secretary, Sindh, Raja Muhammad Abbas, has asked the Administrator, Karachi Municipal Corporation (KMC), to submit a comprehensive report of the Malir Expressway within two days. Presiding and review meeting to this effect, the Chief Secretary advised the Secretaries of Finance, Local Government, and Revenue Departments to ensure coordinated efforts for implementation of the project, which would be 47.62 KM in length with five meters minimum height from the river bed from Super Highway to the end point of Arabian Sea, on a detached embankment of Malir River. A statement on Wednesday said that the total length of the adjoining link roads was estimated at 23.5 KMs covering starting point National Highway, end-point super highway including alignment. The Administrator, KMC, also briefed that the request for Expression of Interest has been floated as per rules and regulations. He assured that the KMC will strictly follow the Sindh Pubic-Private Partnership Act 2010 for the project. The Chief Secretary advised completion of the paper work and all codal formalities, and prepare a presentation, expeditiously. The meeting was attended by Secretary, Implementation, Administrator, KMC, the Director-General Public-Private Partnership Unit and other senior officers. It was also mentioned that the economic prospects of Malir Expressway includes the short distance for exit entry in the city, Direct Link to Airport and facilitate the DHA City and Education City Traffic. |
