FIA recovers Rs142m in TDAP subsidies scam
ISLAMABAD - Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has recovered Rs 142 million in Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) subsidies scam while property worth Rs. 880 million has also been attached. Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) gave Minister for Commerce, Engineer Khurram Dastgir Khan, a briefing on the current status of investigations into the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) subsidies scam in Islamabad on Friday. FIA informed that 49 cases were registered by the Agency and 45 accused persons have been arrested so far in connection with this scam. These accused persons are in judicial custody following rejection of their bail applications. FIA further informed that Rs. 142 million have already been recovered while property worth Rs. 880 million has also been attached. Those arrested includes 02 former Chief Executives, 01 former Secretary, 01 Director General and 01 Project Officer of TDAP besides bank officials, auditors and private businessmen involved in the scam. The Minister for Commerce directed the FIA officials to ensure prosecution of all the cases instituted against the accused persons and make all possible efforts to recover the embezzled money. He directed the officers of Ministry of Commerce & Trade Development Authority of Pakistan to extend complete facilitation and cooperation to the FIA authorities in the investigation process |
