CDA decides to initiate new parking projects
islamabad - The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has decided to initiate new parking projects in addition to ensuring the timely completion of under-construction parking plazas in F-7 Markaz.
Under the programme, besides planning new parking plazas in busy business centres, the existing parking lots available in these areas would be extended with creation of additional parking spaces. This was decided in a meeting held here on Tuesday to review the progress of ongoing development projects and repair and maintenance work in the capital. Chairman CDA Maroof Afzal presided over a progress review meeting which was also attended by Member Administration and Estate Amer Ali Ahmed, member engineering and other concerned officers of the authority. During the meeting it was decided that the CDA would not only ensure timely completion of all ongoing development projects in the federal capital but will also explore new avenues of development. The meeting was apprised that development work on Park Enclave Housing Scheme is in progress at fast pace and work on two tube wells, two underground water tanks and two culverts have been completed while construction work on one culvert and two overhead tanks is near completion. Some 75% of earth work on the roads of Park Enclave Housing Project has also been completed. Construction work on the two parking plaza in Markaz F-7 is also in progress and would be completed in stipulated time. The ongoing rehabilitation work on different roads, which was either affected by the recent rains or by the construction work on Islamabad Section of Metro Bus Project, is also being carried out. Repair and maintenance work on Margalla Road has been started to rehabilitate it completely while repair maintenance of the remaining roads is also in progress. In addition to this lane marking and repair of streetlights is also being carried out. The spring tree plantation campaign under “Green Islamabad Campaign” is also being run successfully and participation of general public especially educational institute is being ensured. During this campaign, different new varieties of colourful flowering and fruit plants are also being introduced. Chairman CDA Maroof Afzal directed the concerned formation to demarcate and design new parking slots in different areas of Islamabad and submit designs for approval so that long standing issue of parking could be resolved. He directed the Environment Wing to engage all the stakeholders in “Green Islamabad Campaign” to make this campaign a success. He also directed to ensure quality of work in all development projects so that after completion sate-of-the facilities could be provided to the residents of Islamabad. He directed that visible improvement should be brought to decorate the avenues by planting beautiful flowery plants and landscaping of the slopes. |
