Metro Bus service will start functioning by the end of the next month.
The National Assembly was informed today that metro bus project completed at a cost of forty four billion rupees will start functioning by the end of next month.
This was stated by Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Shaikh Aftab Ahmad while responding to a call attention notice moved by Dr Azra Fazal Pechuho and others. He said the project would basically facilitate poor masses and about one hundred and fifty-three thousand people will travel through Metro bus service daily. On a point of order raised by Muhammad Ayaz Soomro, Minister for Water and Power Khawaja Muhammad Asif said that electricity will be provided from where the government will receive payment of electricity bills. The Minister said 66 billion rupees are outstanding against two distribution companies of Sindh. He said out of this amount nine billion rupees have been reconciled with the Sindh Government but the Sindh government has not yet paid the said amount to the federal government. He said circular debt also increased due to non-payment of electricity bills. Leader of the Opposition Syed Khursheed Ahmad Shah assured that he will talk to the Sindh government for payment of the reconciled amount. The House rejected "The Indus River System Authority (Amendment) Bill, 2015" after the Minister of State for Water and Power Abid Sher Ali opposed it. The bill was moved by Dr Ramesh Kumar Vankwani.The chair referred "The Law Reforms (Amendment) Bill, 2015" to the Standing Committee concerned. It was moved by Muhammad Ayaz Soomro. The House also referred three other bills to the Standing Committees concerned moved by Syed Naveed Qamar, Dr Nafisa Shah and Dr Azra Fazal Pechuho. Later the House was adjourned to meet again tomorrow morning at 10.30. |
