CDA fetches Rs 2.21b from two days’ auction of commercial plots

ISLAMABAD: Capital Development Authority (CDA) has fetched Rs.2.21 billion from the two days auction of the commercial plots at Convention Centre.

As per details, three plots worth Rs. 393.77 million were auctioned on the second day. The auction proceedings were supervised by the Auction Committee headed by CDA Member Environment Syed Mustafain Kazmi with Member Planning and Design and Finance Waseem Ahmed Khan, Finance deputy director general, Law deputy director general, Land and Estate deputy director general and directors of Public Relations, Estate Management-II and Urban Planning as its members.

On the second day, a commercial plot, measuring 1066.66 square yards located in I12 Markaz was auctioned at the rate of Rs 156,000 per square yard, while commercial plot number 4-A, measuring 1066.66 square yards was auctioned at the rate of Rs 135,000 per square yard, while another plot measuring 622.22 square yards situated in the same sector was bid out at the rate of Rs134,000 per square yard.

CDA Chairman, while appreciating the Auction Committee for conducting a successful and transparent auction, said that the CDA received a resonant response from the investors particularly the business community, which is expression of trust in the policies of the authority.

He said auction of commercial plots will bring a wave of business activities in the capital, which would not only generate more employment opportunities, but will also help flourish business momentum in the city. The recommendations of auction committee would be placed before the CDA Board, which is the competent forum for approving or disapproving any of the bids against these plots.

Punjab Rescue DG directs DEOs to ensure emergency cover during Ashura: Punjab Rescue Emergency Service (Rescue 1122) Director General Brigadier ® Dr Arshad Zia has directed all the district emergency officers (DEOs) to ensure implementation of Code Red on 9th and 10th of Muharram and the leaves of the rescuers have also been restricted all over the Punjab.

According to a statement issued on Wednesday, Punjab Rescue DG Dr Arshad Zia chaired a meeting at Rescue 1122 Headquarters; attended by the Human Resource Deputy Director Dr Foaad Shahzad Mirza, Provincial Monitoring Officer Dr Farhan Khalid, Planning and Development Deputy Director Faheem Qureshi and all other provincial monitoring cell officers (PMCs).

The PMCs briefed the director general that 7,000 emergency staff shall remain on duty during Ashura. The districts have prepared emergency contingency plans in close coordination with district administrations and imamia scouts have been trained and a close liaison has also been developed with focal persons of gatherings.

DG Rescue Punjab Dr. Arshad Zia said that in case of emergency during any mass gathering, most of the injuries or deaths take place due to stampede as a result of panic, therefore, each district emergency officer should review emergency plan of any public gathering to ensure timely and safe evacuation and proper management of emergencies. He also directed them to review site plan with special reference to available exits for any emergency, depending on the expected participation and to also check out adequacy of exits for emergency evacuation and verification that appropriate exits are available. The director general said that the district emergency officer shall be responsible to verify emergency arrangements prior to the start of the event.

According to the Rawalpindi Emergency Plan, 12 emergency ambulances, 10 fire vehicles, three rescue vehicles, water rescue teams and rescuers on different mobile posts have been deployed to provide emergency cover to all mourning processions.
