Islamabad: Govt to establish Expo Centre in capital
Federal government will establish an Expo Centre in Islamabad for the exhibition and sale of goods, manufactured by the trainees of Navtec-sponsored technical courses.
This step of the government will provide an opportunity to the skilled youth to get full profit on the sale of their manufactured goods. This was stated by Chairman National Vocational & Technical Education Commission (Navtec) Adnan A Khawaja while talking to the trainees here at Construction Technology Training Institute (CTTI). Referring to Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani’s announcement regarding the establishment of Expo Centre, made at a ceremony held in Islamabad recently, the chairman said the present government wants to ensure maximum monetary benefit to Navtec-trained people on the sale of their products. Underlining the role of technical and vocational training in strengthening the economies of developing countries like Pakistan, he said the government is according high priority to skill development as a means for progress and prosperity of the country. Adnan Khawaja said that under the directive of the prime minister, Navtec would make all possible efforts to secure jobs for the skilled youth. Navtec, under the advice of the PM, would also pay special attention to the inclusion of youth from FATA in skilled development programmes, so as to engage them in healthy activities, he added. Later, the chairman, accompanied by chief instructor Aurangzeb at CTTI, went around various workshops where technical training was being imparted to the trainees in various disciplines of construction technology including civil engineering, wood works, heavy machines operations, and driving. Earlier, the CTTI chief instructor briefed the chairman about the technical courses currently under progress at the Institute.
