Public awareness campaign for IT security stressed

LAHORE: Chairman Task Force on Information Technology and Communication Technologies (ICT), Salim Ghauri, has stressed the need of a public awareness campaign for IT security issues in both, the public and private sector.

In a statement issued here, he said concerns of local and foreign stakeholders over lacunas in IT security within Pakistan should be addressed immediately with successful implementation of policies developed earlier on the subject.

Ghauri said an implementation plan is needed for all stakeholders in the public and private sector for successfully tackling IT security issues.

The ICT chairman urged Pakistan Software Houses Association (PASHA), Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) and other industry stakeholders to come up with better understanding and share their suggestions with the task force on ICT.

According to him, “this is the right time to project positive developments on IT security within Pakistan to avoid any further damage to the business coming in to the country.”
