Lahore: 15,000 vehicles challaned in nine months in Gulberg Town alone

LAHORE: The latest reports issued by the Environment Protection Department (EPD) disclose that environment inspectors issued challans to 15,080 vehicles in Gulberg Town from June 4, 2008 to February 25, 2009. The officials fined 828 buses, 2,778 wagons and pickups, 7,997 rickshaws, 1,994 trucks, 1,519 jeeps and cars, and impounded another 629 vehicles for being unfit to be driven on the roads. The government earned Rs 5,279,905 through these challans and the implementation of the act would further increase the government’s earnings. staff report
