CDA all set to uplift Jinnah Super Market
ISLAMABAD - The Capital Development Authority (CDA) is all set to uplift Jinnah Super as model market with a view to make it pollution-free and secure recreational business hub of the federal capital.
The idea behind the project is to facilitate the local and foreign visitors of the capital by providing a place equipped with all state-of-the-art recreations and business opportunities at one place. As per the master plan, each sector of the city was equipped with an independent market but in view of modern needs, it has always been felt to develop one market as an ideal as well as central place for shopping. While chairing a review meeting, Chairman Capital Development Authority Imtiaz Inayat Elahi said metropolitans across the world had City Centers reflecting regional flavours and colours of respective societies. Chairman said Islamabad, despite being one of the most organized modern cities of the world, lacked such facility and the visitors, particularly the foreigners suffered when they had to move here and around for shopping. The Chairman said Jinnah Super Market was a renowned market of the country that is why it had been selected for its uplift as City Center; however, the other major markets of the city would also be upgraded and provided with all modern facilities. With the provision of such facilities, the area would become a centre of activity in addition to adding the value to place and property. Under the project, a special traffic plan would also be devised to avoid nuisance and rid the area of pollution. A special parking area would be developed and idea is to keep the vehicles off from market. Under traffic plan, the roads around the market would be converted into one-way to avoid congestion and ensure smooth traffic flow and the matter is being discussed with the Islamabad Traffic Police. To facilitate the visitors and give the market a cultural touch, the CDA is considering the possibility to ply tongas, buggies and the golf cart. For having better environment the soft and hard landscaping would be made around the market for its beautification and provide sit-out facilities to the visitors. Before launching the project, the CDA would hold consultation with the stakeholders including citizens, traders and concerned quarter. |
