The chief minister termed the underpass a gift to the citizens. Talking to media, the chief minister said Quaid-e-Azam who founded Pakistan had great services for the country which always be remembered by the Muslims of the subcontinent. “Creation of Pakistan is an unprecedented achievement which the Quaid performed,” he said, adding no person could belittle the great personality of Quaid-e-Azam who was revered by the whole nation. The CM also expressed grief and sorrow over the martyrdom of innocent people in Balochistan, Swat and Karachi. Thursday was the worst day in the history of Pakistan, he said, adding a wave of terrorism had engulfed the country while extremists wanted to destabilise Pakistan. Earlier, addressing at the opening ceremony, the CM said those, who were now criticising the uplift projects of the provincial government, did nothing for the masses during their rule, except looting the national exchequer and resources in the name of development projects. He announced the Metro Bus Service project would complete soon at a cost of Rs30 billion which would be another defeat of its detractors. He said Model Town underpass had been completed in a record time which was exemplary in terms of its quality, transparency and architecture. Besides the government functionaries and officials, a large number of people also witnessed plaque unveiling ceremony to open the underpass by the chief minister. Asking police to ensure respect to the citizens and address their grievances promptly, the chief minister said hurdles in the way of justice to the people would not be tolerated and a strict action would ensue against the police persons who delays administration of justice. Talking to complainants from various districts at Model Town, the chief minister asked the police to act as servant of the people and maintain the demands of justice while investigating cases. A stern action would follow if any policeman found guilty of destroying evidence. “The government has provided billions of rupees funds to maintain law and order and ensure protection to life and property of the citizens. Now it is responsibility of police to redress their grievances and be courteous to them at police stations,” the CM held. He said police officers and officials tampering with the evidence are a black mark on the department and a stern action needs to be taken against them. He directed the police to take all necessary measures for the earliest arrest of the accused involved in heinous crimes. |
