LDA seals over 50 units at Ferozepur Road industrial area
LAHORE
The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has sealed at least 50 industrial units at Ferozepur Road industrial area without any prior information. The affected industrialists said that this unjustified step has created unrest in the business doing people. They said that Lahore Development Authority (LDA) had never bothered to take businessmen of the area on board before taking such ultimate step. They said that said it was very unfortunate that despite clear direction of the Chief Minister Punjab, Lahore Development Authority (LDA) was bullying and creating an atmosphere of harassment for the business doing people, who are the backbone of the economy. The Lahore Chamber of Commerce & Industry, while expressing grave concern over sealing of more than 50 industrial units at Ferozepur Road industrial area, demanded of Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif to take notice of the situation as this act of Lahore Development Authority (LDA) would not only hamper the economic activities but would also gloom the possibilities of new investment. After having a meeting with a delegation of Ferozepur Road Welfare (Industrial) Organization, led by its vice chairman Chaudhry Asif, LCCI President Ijaz A Mumtaz said that LDA act was against the vision of Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif who wants to make Punjab hub of economic activities. He said that the industrial sector was already passing through a critical time due to unavailability of much-needed electricity & gas and in dire need of handholding by the government to run their businesses but government departments like LDA were aggravating the situation. He said the private sector was ready to supplement all government efforts aimed at revival of economic activities in the country if they are provided breathing space but in the presence of such anti-business tactics, it would be very difficult for the private sector to continue with their businesses. He urged the Chief Minister Punjab to take notice of the whole situation and order to de-seal the closed united of Ferozepur Road industrial area immediately otherwise hundreds families of the industrial workers would be struggling for bread and butter. |
