CDA to rebuild IJP, other metro affected roads
Islamabad - Capital Development Authority has decided to rebuild the dilapidated IJ Principal Road, which bifurcates Rawalpindi and Islamabad, besides the roads affected by metro bus project.
“The whole IJ Principal Road will be reconstructed so that traffic passing through this road may be accommodated and the residents of the twin cities could be further facilitated. ” This was decided in a meeting held at CDA headquarters here, which was attended by Chairman CDA, Maroof Afzal, Chief Commissioner Rawalpindi Zahid Saeed, Member Administration and Estate Amer Ali Ahmed, Member Engineering Shahid Sohail and other officers of relevant formations of the CDA. It was also decided that modern technology would be adopted and light emitting diodes (LED) lights would be installed in an aesthetic manner instead of the traditional electric bulbs. The CDA also decided to start repair of the roads, which were affected by the Metro Bus Project and all the funds would be made available from that project, said a CDA press release issued here Saturday. Chairman CDA, Maroof Afzal was apprised that maintenance work on the roads of Sector G-9 had already been started, while the repair of other major roads would start soon. He directed the concerned formations to immediately start repair work on the 9th Avenue, Nazim-ud-Din Road, Luqman Hakim Road and other major roads of Islamabad affected by metro project. |
