PU Teachers’ Protest against LDA

Hundreds of teachers from University of the Punjab took out to roads to protest against the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) to acquire land of their housing society for constructing Metro Train Terminal.

They also considered boycotting classes and examinations, blocking roads, holding protest in front of Punjab Assembly and writing letter to the Chinese Ambassador. The protest was led by Academic Staff Association President Professor Dr Hassan Mobeen Aalam, Secretary Dr Mahboob Hussain, soon after its general body meeting.

The rally started from Al Razi Hall, with all the participants marched towards campus bridge carrying banners and placard in support of their demands. The federation of All Pakistan Universities Academic Staff Association President Naimatullah Laghari has stated to provide support and close all public sector universities if LDA or Chief Minister Punjab tried to snatch hard earned houses of PU teachers.
