NWFP budget highlights
PESHAWAR: Following are the salient features of the NWFP budget 2009-10 presented in the NWFP Assembly here Wednesday.
• Total volume of the budget is Rs214.2 billion. • The Annual Development Programme of Rs51.1 billion. • Rs6 billion allocated for education. • Rs2 billion kept for rehabilitation of IDPs. • Current expenditure amounted to Rs80 billion. • 624 old and 217 new schemes to be completed. • Local government will receive Rs1.34 billion. • Total deficit stood at Rs3.1 billion. • Rs4.33 billion has been allocated for health sector. • Highway sector will receive Rs5.13 billion. • Agriculture department will get Rs790 billion. • Rs1.24 billion allocated for Tameer-e-Sarhad Programme. • Tourism sector will get Rs330 billion. • Provincial receipts stood at Rs7.5 billion. • Profit from hydel power generation stood at Rs6 billion. • 4,421 additional posts will be created in Police Department. • Rs332.662 million allocation for Sports Department. • Establishment of Urban Model Township, Green Peshawar Project. • Changes in hydel policy 2006. • 11 new schemes will be completed in hydel power sector. • Rs441.308 million allocated for hydel sector in ADP. • Irrigation sector will receive Rs1406.496 million for 33 ongoing and 19 new schemes. • Under ADP, 42 ongoing and 18 new schemes will be completed in the industrial sector. • Rs332.622 million allocated for preservation of Gandhara civilisation. • Rs80 million allocated for developing tourist spots. • Provincial Finance Commission will get Rs1341.735 million for district governments. • 11 research and development schemes will be completed. • Rs7.772 billion allocated for completion of 38 regional development schemes. • Unattractive Area Allowance (UAA) of government employees increased. • Rs2 billion allocated for subsidy on wheat. • UAA of employees from BPS-1 to 15 increased from Rs150 to Rs1,700. • UAA will be applicable on employees of remote areas, including Chitral and Kohistan. • Establishment of Provincial Employment Cell with initial grant of Rs500 million. • Salaries and pension increased by 15 per cent. • Government employees from BPS-1 to 16 exempted from professional tax. • Establishment of Benazir Shaheed Hospital and Bacha Khan Medical College in Mardan. • Free treatment of hepatitis patients. • Free provision of fund for construction Frontier House At Gwadar. • 150 new schools to be set up. • 200 CNG buses will be purchased. • Rs500 million for poverty reduction plan. http://www.thenews.com.pk/daily_detail.asp?id=183651 |
