International firm to audit power projects
ISLAMABAD: Finance Minister Shaukat Tarin has said that the Asian Development Bank will hire an international firm to carry out audit of all power projects.
Talking to newsmen, he said that the ‘Asian Development Bank will carry out third party audit of all power projects through an international company.’ He was of the view that everything would be crystal clear after the audit report. To a question, he said that rental power projects are short term solution. To another question, he said Pakistan has world’s third largest coal reserves but regretted it has not been used for generation of power. He informed that China is generating 70 per cent electricity through coal while India is generating 54 per cent electricity through this means.
