Staff Report

LAHORE: Top position-holders in the matriculation and intermediate examinations of 2009 from Balochistan, who are visiting Lahore on an invitation from the Punjab government, said their perspective of the province has changed after their visit.

The students demanded the Punjab government increase number of seats in educational institutions instead of allocating quota system for Baloch students. They said special scholarships should be announced for Baloch students.

A delegation of 20 students on Thursday visited various educational institutions of the city and discussed their problems regarding the education system. The students visited the Government College University, Lahore College For Women University and the Punjab University, besides various historical monuments.

Scholarships: Sehrish Zahoor, the topper in Arts in matriculation, said she was surprised to see that there were private and public universities at every corner of Lahore, while there were only two universities in Balochistan. She requested the government to announce scholarships for Baloch students.
