Open manholes on city roads pose grave threats
RAWALPINDI - Residents have expressed concerns over the open manholes in Cantt and city areas saying that slackness on the part of concerned authorities towards the matter could lead to loss of precious lives. Over a dozen manholes of different organisations were lying open in Cantt and other residential areas and roads. The residents talking to INP complained that the manholes in the city remained open for several days adding that these manholes could cause serious mishaps. They said that concerned authorities were playing the role of silent spectators over the matter despite repeated complaints. The citizens demanded chief executive officer RCB to pay due attention to the matter and close the open manholes which may lead to serious mishaps. On the other hand, Cantonment Board officials said that it was the responsibility of concerned authorities, without naming them, to cap the open manholes on Mall Road. |
